hrh the princess got the inspiration from a chinese poem, “jing ye si,” (pondering in a quiet night) by li bai. she elaborated that in addition to this chinese poem, she got another inspiration from hm the late king’s painting. she said, “i like one particular picture he painted when we were young. it is the picture of a pitch-black night with a mere full moon and no one there. i’d like to paint just like that, but to no avail. it came out all green because the paint was not dry yet. i didn’t have the patience to wait. in fact, i should have made the blue sky first, waited for the paint to dry, then drawn the moon. i didn’t wait so the moon is not quite round. his majesty’s moon was round with a white ring that looked realistic. it was very beautiful as a moon corona. i would like to do it but instead of asking him, i hurriedly tried it by myself.
